Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.

 

System Requirements

Minimum System

  • Windows XP (SP2 or later),

or Windows Vista,

or Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later)

  • .NET Framework 2.0
  • 500 MHz processor (Recommended: 800 MHz or faster)

Task 1

 

1. Open PaintNET (Start – All Programs – Paint.NET).

2. Colour the background orange (Tools – Paint Bucket – click on the orange colour and then on the worksheet).

3. Draw the window frame using dark brown colour (Tools – Rectangle; Fill Style Solid, Brush, Width:10, click on the brown colour and drag a rectangle).

4. Colour the window blue (Tools – Paint Bucket – click on the blue colour and then on the window).

5. Draw white transparent clouds into sky (Tools – Paintbrush, Brush Width:30, choose a colour, in the Colors window click on the button More and change Transparency 7).

6. Draw transparent curtains (Tools – Paintbrush, Fill style Dark Upward Diagonal, Brush width:50, Transparancy to 7).

7. Save the picture (File – Save As - …).

1. Open PaintNET (Start – All Programs – Paint.NET).

2. Open the background image (File – Open).

3. Add a new layer (Layers – Add New Layer).

4. Choose a colour to cover the image (Window - Colors – click on the colour).

5. Colour the image (Window – Tools – Paint Bucket).

6. Use an eraser to erase some parts of the image (Window – Tools – Eraser).

7. Save the picture (File – Save As - …).

 

 

Task 3

 

1. Open PaintNET (Start – All Programs – Paint.NET).

2. Open one portrait (File – Open).

3. Choose the Rectangle Select tool and drag a rectangle around the part of the photo you wish to continue working (Tools – Rectangle Select).

4. Crop the image (Image – Crop to Selection).

5. Select all (Edit – Select All).

6. Choose the Ellipse Select tool and drag a circle around the head holding the right button of the mouse (Tools – Ellipse Select).

7. Use Blurs – Radial Blur (Effects – Blurs – Radial Blur).

8. Save the picture (File – Save As - …).

 

 

 

Task 4

 

1. Open PaintNET (Start – All Programs – Paint.NET).

2. Open the background photo (File – Open – Browse).

3. Add a new layer (Layers – Add New Layer).

4. Open another PaintNET (Start – All Programs – Paint.NET).

5. Open the picture to cut out something (File – Open – Browse).

6. Select Lasso Select tool and drag a line around the object (Tools – Lasso Select).

7. Copy the object (Edit – Copy).

8. Open the background picture again and paste the object (Edit - Paste).

9. Drag the object to the right place.

10. You can use eraser to make edges more precise.

11. You can add more layers and objects if you wish. All objects should be on different layers, then you can move them afterwards.

12. Save the picture (File – Save As - …).
